While I have owned and restored many makes of cars over the years, my specialty is Sunbeam Tigers. I have focused on Concour restoration but can provide any level of restoration for your Sunbeam Tiger.
When working with a client I always try to take into account the intended use of the car and work with you to determine the most cost effective path to restoration. Not every one wants a Concour restored Tiger; most of us want a nice driver because its more fun to drive them than look at them.
Front suspension:
I do a great deal of front suspension work. Most of the time this involves removing the suspension, taking it apart, checking it for structural integrity, adding weld to high stress areas that were not welded at the factory, sandblast, powder coat, replace worn parts and get it back together. This work includes upper and lower control arms, spindles, calipers, hubs etc. There are also options for fulcrum pins, hardware, steering racks, steering arms, and brakes.
Rear suspension:
I can restore the entire rear suspension and rear differential, as well as provide a list of optional setups, depending on the intended purpose of the car (auto cross, open track, daily driver). From street to race I can do the work or point you in the right direction.
Power train:
From a stock 2bbl setup to a full tilt race motor, I have an enormous amount of experience. Crate motors, five speed conversions, and all of the go fast goodies that usually end up as the first thing changed on a car. I pride myself on guidingthe owner to a balanced progression. I have seen way to many fast Tigers that don't stop or turn (See Hydraulic Systems).
Electrical:
I can provide service and restoration for your entire electrical system. From Concour
restoration of original components to replacement with reproductions. I also like to keep all of the original optional gauges (Clocks and Ammeters) in stock for customers who want a full compliment of gauges. Additionally, I do some trick stuff with a tachometer (7000 RPM Mark I style) and re-silk screened early clocks with quartz movement.
Interior:
Restoration of the interior is usually high on the list of fixes for everyone. The interior is where you sit, so it is important that it look good and feel good. I can rebuild worn out seats or do entire Concour restoration, including restoration and installation of soft tops and hard tops.
Hardware:
I am well known for my obsession with original hardware. I have the original hardware restored to the factory finish and know where everything goes. There are many differences in hardware application on the three models of Tiger and, with the help of Norm Miller I have studied this for years. When you walk up to a Tiger at a show and the hardware isn't right it stands out.If you have a Stock Tiger the hardware should be stock, if its personalized or modified then you should follow suit.
Hydraulic systems:
I can restore the brakes to factory stock or modify them to suit. I have installed rear discs and am familiar with the full tilt vented rotor systems and dual circuit brake masters. I can restore all of the hydraulic lines or make new as required.
I have spent years fostering relationships with many talented people who I outsource work to. For example, I don't do body or paint work, however I know many quality body and paint shops that have all of the necessary space, equipment and experience to do quality work.
